Elm Street Park Grandstand Project
Hudson Brothers Construction recently completed the construction of the Elm Street Park Grandstand and Press Box Addition. The City of Greenville and the Greenville Little League, working in conjunction with local Architect Hite Associates, solicited proposals from contractors yielding Hudson Brothers Construction Company as the successful bidder. The contract value of the new facility was approximately $1,100,000.
The Elm Street Park Grandstand project replaced existing aluminum, bench style bleachers that once seated approximately 100 people, with an enlarged and improved stadium style folding seats with a capacity of 240 individuals. Seats are protected by a cantilevered structural roof with standing seam metal covering and perimeters surrounded by masonry construction. The Grandstand complex also features an elevated press box, new home and visitor's bullpen for pitchers, and suspended cable netting system in lieu of standard chain link backstop fencing behind home plate.
Hudson Brothers Construction Company was excited to be a part of this project, as many of the firm's employees once played Little League on this field during their youth. The addition to what is already a historic and iconic ball field will definitely take Little League Baseball in this region to new heights. The construction was completed in approximately 180 days finishing after the beginning of the spring baseball season. Games were allowed to be played while the improvements were underway after the new protective netting of the grandstands was installed during the middle stages of the project
